My "That Ain't Love" Recommended
Several weeks ago, I followed a link posted by foxy11814 to a recommendation of her story titled "A Father's Truth," and discovered one of my stories on that same UF recommendations list, on a community called lacroix_knight.

My first reaction was surprise!  Then flattery and confusion.  My "That Ain't Love" (1999) stars Nick and Lacroix, yes, and examines their relationship, yes, but the title was not selected just for the song challenge.  If you've read it, you know where I stand.  With reflection, the surprise and confusion were replaced by respect for the choice of the UFer, mysticdreamer32, to list a diverse array of stories featuring her favorite characters, not just easy or cheerleading takes on the combination.  I appreciate and applaud that, and thank her for the recommendation.

If the UF is your thing, you may want to check out that rec list and community both.

It's in the UFs FAQ, that the faction is for the exploration and appreciation of Nick and LaCroix' relationship in all it's possibilities, which includes simply father-son and the intricacies of the back and forth, love/hate history they have. However one interprets that love. I enjoy slashy N/L, but I also enjoy possibilities.

It is admirable that the faction officially strives for inclusivity! Still, I've rarely seen any 'shipper, in any faction or fandom, recommend a story that takes such a bleak view of her 'ship, so I felt she deserved recognition for her boldness on that score.

Of course, it may be that the story is so poorly written that the bleakness does not come through as intended! :-) I can see that. It was written over a decade ago; I hope I could do better today. :-)

I take great pleasure in stories like my little snippet, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, that look at the less harmonious side of the N-LC relationship (and happily poke a little fun at the General) ;-)

Re: P.S.
The snipped is locked on LJ, and I didn't see a DW cross-post... did you want to share with a wider audience, or is under-lock right where you want it? Just checking!

If you are logged into your journal, you should be able to read it. My journal is friends-locked, but I have you friended.

Re: P.S.
Yes, I can see that post. But as this post is not locked, and you had commented here, I wasn't sure whether you wanted other people to be able to read that piece. I understand now that you don't. Thanks! That's why I asked.

I just posted it to the "last_writes" community on Dreamwidth.
