• On 04/30, havocthecat listed Natalie, Janette, Tracy, Erica, Fleur, Cohen, Myra, and Naomi Ross (from "Near Death"), and ithildyn listed Janette, in the "She's Awesome" (female characters) meme.
  
• On 04/24, ithildyn answered the "Writer's Block: Celebrating Friendships" question with "the Forever Knight 1996 group."
  
• On 04/03, amilyn described both Grace and Natalie in the "Name a Character" meme.

• On 04/26, abby82 shared an extensive tribute to the beloved popcorn-throwing scene at the end of "False Witness," including multiple collages and transcribed dialogue.
  
• On 04/16, abby82 posted 24 FK userpic icons, in assorted subjects from all seasons.  Many of them are downright funny and clever, so you may want to take a peek even if you're full-up on icons.

• On 04/20, abby82 reported the news that the Red Barn Theater was destroyed in a fire.  In '94, Geraint Wyn Davies and Catherine Disher performed there.
  
• On 04/18, pj1228 reviewed Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story, co-starring Nigel Bennett as a newspaper publisher.  She's got screenshots...
  
• On 04/13, abby82 shared a detailed, screenshot-rich recap of the movie The Vindicator
  (1986), co-starring Catherine Disher.  Need a photo of "young Natalie" to Photoshop into FKness?  Try these!

• mysticalcat7, on 03/23, announced that she has uploaded the last of fkspoilr, the June 1996 digests, following her 03/07 announcement that she uploaded the May 1996 fkspoilr digests.  Fkspoilr, of course, was the spoiler discussion list (a sibling of fkfic-l), and those were the days of "Last Knight"'s first airing.
  
• endcredits, on 03/02, snuck an FK reference into her reflections on the season finale of Being Human.

• ithildyn, on 03/24, answered about Janette in a Five Questions Per Character meme, and on 03/07, shared a Canadian Foods Meme.  What, no ribena? :-)
  
• abby82, on 03/04, addressed a WIP Meme. Four of hers are clearly FK.
  
• ithildyn, on 03/02, in a Five Things Meme, mentioned first meeting ninjababe on the FK IRC channel, and the collaborative origin of her FK/HL universe.

Fanfiction. 

• abby82, on 03/30, posted a new, G-rated, N&N story titled Change Upon Us, written for the "Fic Drought NNFic Challenge" at the NNFic Yahoo! Group (which I didn't know existed; good for them!).
  
• dj_clawson, on 03/11, discussed the possible publishing future and challenges of her Aristotle stories.
  
• falcon_horus, on 03/03, listed and linked all the submissions to her Claire Rankin Character Mini-Ficathon.  The FK entries are: "Not in the Stars but in Ourselves" by tanaquisga (FK/SGA), "Memories" by falcon_horus (FK/SGA), and "Three Fireweed Seeds" by me (FK).

Cast and Crew. 

• abby82, on 03/29, reviewed Deborah Duchene's episode of Beyond Reality (1991), a two-season Canadian series with lots of FK cast and crew. She's generous with screenshots.
  
• When the news about the SciFi Channel rebranding itself "SyFy" (um, right, that'll make 'em cooler than us) came out, many remembered the days when Ms. Hammer ran the USA network and with it FK's third season, including ithildyn here, wiliqueen here, studiesinlight here...
  
• pj1228, on 03/15, reviewed A Bug and a Bag of Weed, a comedy with Nigel Bennett.

To prove that I can still play memes :-) I hereby repeat one most recently seen with havocthecat: "Comment with a story I've written, and I will tell you something about the story that didn't make it onto the page."  Which is to say, of course, that while extras and cut scenes are uncanonical, sometimes they're fun, and you may have one if you like. ;-)  My online FK fiction is here (if you've got the zine stuff, or the non-FK stuff, it's fair game, too).

It doesn't look like much next to the breathtaking productivity of some fanfiction authors who have shared this meme, but my 2008 was unprecedently prolific.  This was also the year I discovered ficathons.  (I suspect a connection, oh yes.   How did Bill Watterson have Calvin and Hobbes put it?  "I work best under pressure." / "You work only under pressure.")

2008 is the last year for which tv_elf will appear in beta credits.  I miss her.  I am grateful to her and much_madness, batdina, leela_cat, wiliqueen, abby82, and a few people from the list, who generously gave their time and thought to make my stories worth reading -- and, in many cases, to midwife them into existence in the first place by asking questions and waiting out the answers.

And I am so grateful to everyone who read the stories -- especially those who told me they did. :-)

Recently, in FK on my Friends List:

• Potential Fanfic!  On October 3, ithildyn considered the c.1849 flashbacks in FK's "The Code," and how to cross FK with Magnificent 7.  Does the idea of Chris/Janette strike your fancy?
  
  
• Upcoming Ficathon!  On October 3, the oldschoolfic moderator confirmed that she is planning an end-of-year prompt-a-thon and story exchange.  (This is the community for out-of-production shows like FK.)
  
  
• New Fanfiction Posted!  On September 30, the current "Back-to-School"-themed oldschoolfic ficathon was due, and there are two FK stories this time!  (Naturally, there are also nice stories for other fandoms.)  For FK, we have:
  • "Twenty-Five Minutes" (G) by abby82 for the prompt: "the girl in the photo on Captain Amanda Cohen's desk" (~800 words).
    
  • "Fearful Symmetry" (PG) by me, for the prompt: "In 'Spin Doctor,' Nick says he had some remarkable students; how did he say goodbye to them?" (~7K words).
• Ficathon! DVDs!  On September 22, abby82 mentioned the galpalficathon FK prompts (available now, ficathon due November 16), and that the The Border (with CD and NB) is coming soon to R1 DVD.
  
  
• Meme!  On September 17, ithildyn posted an FK quotation meme.

wiliqueen revived the "DVD Commentary" meme, sharing her thoughts on her 2008 BT fanfiction "Five Times Coreen..." (story / with commentary) and her 1993 FK fanfiction "To Drive the Cold Winter Away" (story / with commentary).  She asked for mine on my 2006 FK story "A Little Salsa Picante."

I put my commentary on my site this morning (story / with commentary).  Thank you, Wiliqueen, for reading the story, and for being curious for more!

wiliqueen revived the "DVD Commentary" meme, and shared commentaries on her classic Forever Knight fanfiction "Color of the Night" (pure story / commented-upon) (second-ever entry in the recommendations project, by the way), and on a stirring portion of her recent Blood Ties fanfiction "Five Times Coreen Fennel Did Not Kiss Henry Fitzroy..." (pure story / commented-upon), and has generously promised me comments on one more FK scene to be named later, to boot.

Honoring the meme exchange, I hereby make a similar offer: pick any of my fanfiction (list), and I'll repost it with a "DVD commentary."  (However, I must add a caveat; if you choose a larger story -- especially one so big that I divided it into chapters or sections -- please choose just a scene, not the whole thing.  This is a little meme, not a giant project to consume the next several months, right? ~g~)

In other news, my last beta reader kindly came in on "Starwort," and I will make her adjustments -- she recommends a specific small new scene in the middle of the long conversation scene, among a few other tweaks -- and then start preparing the story for fkfic-l posting (that is, dividing it into <500-line ASCII posts wrapped at <60 characters-per-line and counting them; I love the list dearly and devotedly, but optimal list posting is both an art and a chore).
