Gerwolf on DVD
Amazon.com tells me that "Gerwolf" -- that is, Airwolf season four, 1987-88, its final season, on which Geraint Wyn Davies worked -- is now available on DVD in Region 1.

(I never imagined it would make it. ~g~ It's famously bad, you see.)

Bad enough to be worth getting? ;)

how bad was it?
Mary Ch. has written FK/AW crossovers; I bet she'd be the best person to ask. :-)

I have a couple of episodes on VHS around here somewhere, from the days we crammed every FK-related tidbit we could onto the end of tapes we were tape-tree-ing for each other, but beyond that, I'm afraid I have no memory of it. When it aired, it was just something my dad watched.

Airwolf got canceled and then revived under new ownership (familiar scenario?). "Season 4" is the reboot, with all different actors, all different characters (the niece of the original hero, etc.), and a very different scenario. I suspect that its sheer badness may in some ways be accessible only to a viewer who came to it through its first three seasons.

Well, let's see...as I recall, the stories are awful, the special effects are worse, and as soon as it's not $30, I'm just going to have to get it....

Besides, it's got the Cigarette-Smoking Man in it, according to Amazon (though I don't remember him).

The only episode that I actually remember, though is one in which GWD's character suffers amnesia.

So this is a recurring plot point for Ger. ;)

I have this theory about TV shows: It could be bunnies. They are all required by law to do certain stories, like the Amnesia Story, the Beauty Contest Story, The Professional Athlete Story, The Hero Falls in Love (So We Can Kill Off His Beloved) Story, etc.

And if the show goes on long enough, it can do them several times over! *gives NCIS the side-eye*

I wonder if I still have the soundtrack to "Once More, With Feeling"...

Well, yeah, everybody should have their chance to play the amnesiac!

I, ah, listen to that soundtrack fairly regularly...partly because Sarah Michelle Gellar and I have pretty much the same vocal range....

And if you're Buffy (speaking of Buffy), then everyone should be an amnesiac at once!

Ha! I'd forgotten (ahem!) about that!

My husband, who adores Airwolf, excepts this season with great disdain. When I point out that I am very fond of the actor from another program, he does not relent.
