I'm Back (What'd I miss?)
I see that fandomaid is doing buy-it-now fundraising for Typhoon Haiyan aid to the Philippines. I don't have time to make a writing offer myself (unless you're very patient) but I am perhaps in a position to "buy" one story with a donation; are there any authors' offers remaining that I should check out? FK, HL, YB, original BSG...?

This is the first time that I've logged into this account since, I think, August. My apologies to anyone I've worried, and my gratitude to those who checked on me! I'm fine; thank you. I got a highly demanding new job; I had to find a new home and move so that my previous landlord could renovate; and, finally, a family member died. It's been intense, but, really, I'm okay.

And I'm back! I'm not rewinding all the way to August to catch up — so please do drop me a link here if I've missed something that you'd like me to know or see! — but I did go back as many "previous" clicks as my flist/circle pages would take me today. I owe replies to at least two people, recommendations for [community profile] fkficfest throughout, and a beta to a third person; my emphatic apologies most of all to that beta-awaiting person!

Live fannish status? I've read hardly anything besides the NYT these past months (only three books, one of them an old favorite), but I am up to date on Sleepy Hollow, Agents of SHIELD, Grimm, Person of Interest, Once Upon a Time, The Paradise and Call the Midwife. I've seen Thor: The Dark World. I'm only a few episodes behind in Doctor Who, and I'm cynical at the BBC poll for the "best" Doctor giving the top spots to the most recent actors. I haven't seen the new Dracula or Reign and probably won't. I've been feeling HLish...

My fandom hobby time will remain more limited than I'd like for the foreseeable future (although I may be able to get in some happy hours at the winter holidays). I'll strive to spend my precious hobby time wisely and well, and with all of you. I have indeed missed you ... and fandom!

It's lovely to have you back. I was getting worried. (Yes, you're right: you haven't posted since early August.)

What have you missed? Well, check out fkcommentfic: both waltd and I posted a number of ficlets. Mine have also been posted to my website.

FK was nominated for Yuletide again, and made the cut by the skin of its teeth. As you know, the gift exchange is for rare fandoms only. The new mods decided to discontinue the old "ten-year rule", which means that the sheer size of Mel's old archive would have disqualified us. However, they have agreed that large archives have to be active to count.

Also, over on FORKNI-L, there is talk of war. It looks as though War 15 will be held in Jan/Feb, for the usual two weeks plus weekends. Yes, it's a bit soon after the last one. However, there seems to be general agreement that this is the most appropriate way to honour the twentieth anniversary of War 1.

It occurs to me that the link I gave to the index page of my website might overwhelm with past stories. These are the ones associated with this year's Dead Dog Party on fkcommentfic:
Drabbles and other small fry:
“A Captain’s Lot is Not a Happy One”
“Jangles”
Post mortem
“Pilgrim to Eternity”
“Rats to You!”

WarVerse:
“Caddies in the Night”

Ficlets:
“Consequences”
“The Sack”

But do check out fkcommentfic for waltd's stories.

Thank you for the warm welcome home. My apologies for taking all week to reply; I'm still slower than I'd like, but we have a holiday this week in the US, and perhaps I'll be able to pick up my pace.

Thank you also for the news and explanation about FK and Yuletide, and the news of impending FKFic-L War. Those are important and valuable tidings.

Thanks for the advice on Reign! If I remember correctly, I believe that I saw lizbetann wondering why TPTB didn't just make a fictional kingdom full of fictional people, given the way they're going.

I like your icon here, btw. :-) Amazing that Clara was the first to make that same observation this way around, isn't it?
