Blank page, stop mocking me!
Granted, my screen is not entirely blank.  :-)  But it's one week to the [community profile] fkficfest/fkficfest deadline and the word count of my outline and notes still exceed that of my draft text!  Ack!  Wherever has the time gone?  (Hurry, self; use this weekend well! ~g~)

For those not in a hole of their own making, may I recommend checking out the beta-reading posts?  On DW and/or on LJ.  There are requests and offers on both!  You can communicate freely on both using OpenID; you don't have to have accounts at both to comment on both.  If you have issues with OpenID, let me know, and we'll figure out something.  (If you aren't playing in the ficathon this year but would still like to participate, beta-reading is a marvelous contribution! Making each story the best it can be really does matter.)

I plan to volunteer to beta as soon as my own story is fully drafted...

I sympathize. I'm having similar problems, and I absolutely must get a draft done this weekend.

Mutual sympathy all around! Good luck to us. :-)

I feel exactly the same way. Somehow the time has just flown. All good intentions (say about the long holiday weekend) have led to naught. And yet, it's not that I haven't been thinking about it, planning in my head. It's just that somehow....

As you say, "(Hurry, self; use this weekend well! ~g~)"

It strikes me that the salutary effects of deadlines are why ficathons produce more stories than traditional challenges (as much as I enjoy challenges).

Good luck to all!

"the salutary effects of deadlines"

There is far too much truth in that.
